Welcome to the American Association for Health Freedom (AAHF) and the Health Freedom Foundation (HFF) online Action Center. Here you will find alerts on legislation that affects you. Use the tools on this site to ensure your voice is heard and help raise awareness and increase activism on today's most pressing health freedom issues.
You can make a difference - your voice represents over 1,000 similar opinions. Members of Congress look at each constituent opinion voiced to them as equaling 1,000 to over 10,000 other constituents who just didn't take the time to contact them.
After taking action here, check out other ways you can get involved. Here's how with a few simple steps, you can have an impact:

Show Congress You Believe In DSHEA. Stop HR 3156
Imagine you are at your local store to purchase your supplements and you see that their cost has dramatically increased and that a vast number of supplements are no longer on the shelves. What happened? Proposed Congressional legislation, H.R. 3156, was enacted. Voice your concerns today about the so-called "Dietary Supplement Access and Awareness Act" (HR 3156). TAKE ACTION NOW!

You Can Make A Difference - Tell Your Representatives That You Want Access To Safe And Proven Therapies.
Access to Medical Treatment Act (HR 2792 & S 2618) would provide a much-needed federal statutory authority for licensed healthcare professionals to use therapies and devices that have not yet been approved (or which may never be approved) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) but have been used effectively and safely in other countries. AMTA not only expand patients' options, it helps ensure patients safety. It returns the decision-making authority to the patient, and reasserts the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship. Please show your support today for this important bill. TAKE ACTION NOW!

Mercury Has Been Removed From Thermometers Why Not From Our Fillings? Protect The Health Of You And Your Family By Urging Congress To Prohibit Mercury In Dental Fillings.
AAHF is pleased to be working with the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (www.iaomt.org) to raise awareness and support of H.R. 4011, Mercury in Dental Fillings Disclosure and Prohibition Act. This bill would gradually prohibit the use of mercury leaking amalgam fillings. Mercury poisoning in our society is not a partisan issue. It destroys lives and it damages children. If we cannot protect our children then we cannot protect out nation's future. TAKE ACTION NOW!

Congressional Investigation of FDA.
The Food and Drug Administration continues to give out false and deceptive information about mercury fillings. They won't issue warnings to pregnant women. They won't even advise consumers that amalgam is mainly mercury. Ask Congress to investigate the FDA for protecting pro-mercury dentists instead of protecting pregnant women, children, and the environment. TAKE ACTION NOW!

Urge Congress to Support FDA/FTC Reform Legislation.
The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) has been federal law for 12 years. Even after four successful federal court decisions vindicating consumers' rights to have access to truthful health claims on supplements and in advertising products, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) continue to censor and engage in heavy-handed attempts to restrict access to
Long-time health freedom supporter, Rep. Ron Paul has introduced H.R. 4282, the Health Freedom Protection Act, which seeks to rectify this abuse by these two powerful federal agencies. TAKE ACTION NOW!

Stop Congress From Making DHEA Illegal.
Your access to DHEA, a vital dietary supplement that provides important health benefits to older Americans and those with chronic conditions, is in jeopardy. Congress has introduced "To include dehydroepiandrosterone as an anabolic steroid" (S. 1137 & H.R.3937), to classify DHEA as an anabolic steroid, adding it to the list of controlled substances and removing it from the market. DHEA is not an anabolic steroid. It is a naturally occurring hormone that has a wide range of benefits, including maintaining muscle strength and strong bones, boosting immunity, and improving mood and sleep patterns. DHEA may be helpful for such conditions as obesity, cancer and Alzheimer's disease. DHEA dietary supplements have been on the market for over 20 years. Similar legislation is expected soon in the House of Representatives. TAKE ACTION NOW!

Don't Be Fooled By Durbin's Trojan Horse.
The "Food Safety Administration" (S. 729.HR1507) would create a new (and sole) food agency and transfer the FDA food functions, except dietary supplements, to the new agency. The "Food Czar" legislation would, in essence, repeal the Dietary Supplement Act (DSHEA). TAKE ACTION NOW!

Help Pass Deductibility Of Supplements As Medical Expense.
The Dietary Supplement and Healthy Meal Replacement Tax Parity Act, HR 1545 recognizes that meal replacement and dietary supplement products have shown through research and historical use to be of valuable benefit to human health and disease prevention. Such items cannot now be claimed as an authorized deductible medical expense under current federal tax policy. This bill would allow for the costs of purchasing meal replacement and dietary supplement products to be deductible medical expenses. This tax deductibility option is long overdue for millions of Americans. TAKE ACTION NOW!

Help Protect DSHEA. Support HR 2485, DSHEA Full Implementation and Enforcement Act.
The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA) has not been fully implemented in 12 years. While DSHEA specifies annual increases in FDA funding levels it did not actually give permission for the authorized spending increases for FDA activities. While we usually complain about the FDA (and rightly so), we feel that this leaves the FDA (and therefore DSHEA) open to detractors who prefer to use the FDA's lack of performance as a reason to repeal law and regulate supplements more like drugs. This legislation is a positive vehicle to force Congressional detractors to take a real position instead of speechifying against DSHEA. TAKE ACTION NOW!

 |
Another Way To Help Pass Deductibility Of Supplements As Medical Expense.
Dietary Supplement Tax Fairness Act of 2005 (HR 2486) has been introduced in Congress by Representative Burton. The bill recognizes that meal replacement and dietary supplement products have shown through research and historical use to be of valuable benefit to human health and disease prevention.

 |
Oppose H.R. 2510 Dietary Supplement Regulatory Implementation.
Unlike HR 2485, DSHEA Full Implementation which is a positive vehicle to force Congressional detractors to take a real position instead of speechifying against DSHEA, this bill is trying a back-door approach to modifying DSHEA. The Dietary Supplement Regulatory Implementation (HR 2510) has two areas of concern. Ban all supplements containing ephedrine alkaloids. Establish a system for the requirements for the reporting of serious adverse experiences. TAKE ACTION NOW!

Urge Your Senator To Support Prescription Drug Reimportation.
Pharmaceutical Market Access and Drug Safety Act of 2005 (S. 334) also known as Prescription Drug Reimportation bill has been introduced in the Senate. Americans unjustly pay up to 5 times more to fill their prescriptions than consumers in other countries and the United States is the largest global market for pharmaceuticals, yet American consumers pay the highest prices for brand pharmaceuticals in the world. Californians: If you get sick, do you want the best treatments available?
California State Bill, SB-583 will decriminalize the alternative treatments for cancer in California, when provided by licensed physicians (MD/DO). Laws should protect citizens' right of choice regarding the health and medical therapies they decide is best for them and the laws should protect qualified practitioners' choice to provide the widest possible range of cancer therapies. TAKE ACTION NOW!
