What Are The Side Effects of CBD Gum?

Naturally, any health supplement will have some side effects on the body, no matter how minor or novel. By their very nature, supplements, including CBD gum, can cause some physiological change in the body which might induce side effects. However, whilst this is true, the side effects of CBD gum are different between everyone. Some individuals might experience no changes at all, but others may be less lucky. So what kind of side effects might you experience from CBD gum? Here are a few of the main side effects of CBD gum.

Exhaustion and Fatigue

Perhaps the most commonly experienced side effect of CBD gum is that it can make individuals tired, lethargic and even exhausted. This isn’t the goal of the product, but it is a natural side effect experienced by some. Likewise, some individuals may mistake the feeling of relaxation induced by CBD gum as the two can feel similar. Although, interestingly, some research suggests that CBD, including CBD gum can actually do the opposite and act as an agent that promotes awareness. Like most side effects, some individuals will experience this whilst others will not.

Low Blood Pressure

Another possible side effect is low blood pressure, which can be problematic for those with very low blood pressure already. But this might be advantageous in some cases, since research reveals that over a quarter of the UK is suffering from high blood pressure. In fact, high blood pressure increases the risk of diseases such as heart disease and can even cause a stroke. Although, if you are concerned about your blood pressure and the effect that CBD gum might have, it is a good idea to get in touch with your GP and discuss the product’s suitability.

Gastrointestinal Problems

It is also not uncommon for those that take CBD gum to experience some gastrointestinal issues, namely diarrhoea. Whilst there is no concrete explanation for the side effect, it has been suggested that diarrhoea is a natural response by the body to unfamiliar medication and this is therefore no different to most other forms of medication.

Another related side effect is the loss of appetite which can be induced by CBD based products, such as the gum. In fact, CBD gum is widely known for being an effective hunger suppressant, despite the fact that this is not the sole purpose of the product.

Fortunately, most side effects of CBD gum and oil are only short term and are often not serious. Most typically, these side effects wear off along with the general effects of the CBD gum, so there is little to worry about. However, it is a good idea to contact your GP if any of the side effects are particularly concerning.
